I know I know...

I haven't updated this thing in forever.

I have struggled to find time to do personal artwork, but hopefully I will be able to start posting new things soon.

Some new art/design related things in my life:

I bought a new digital camera...a canon S5 IS, I love the flippy screen, and wouldnt trade it for anything. I cracked the firmware on it from some people at CHDK ([link]) and have been able to unlock many new features including a USB remote that I made of parts from radioshack. Hopefully I'll be able to start taking many new pictures with it, including infrared based photography.

I completed an indonesian batik art show at my school of art, and I am now preparing to do another possible show with even more of my work at a local gallery here in west michigan.

I started a new job being a webdesigner for the department of career and student employment services at WMU, and I am a lot happier now, I think its a good stepping stone towards my career as a fulltime graphic designer

Concerned..

noticing a disturbing trend lately...

1.
people taking random google pictures, and putting them in their gallery, or even going to extremes and signing it as their own work, when it isnt.
GET ORIGINAL

2.
people taking random non-art photos of themselves and their friends, and posting them here. Usually some flippy hairdo, goth pic, or random scene.
THIS ISNT MYSPACE PEOPLE, TAKE SOME REAL PICTURES.

3.
This last one doesnt bug me nearly as much, but it still is a bit of a concern.
What is it with the constant flow of either anime or "creative" nude pictures, cant you draw or photograph other things? Admittedly some of this stuff I see is very original, creative, and took time and skill to do, but theres so many people doing it these days, that its not a niche art anymore, and is getting tiring.

let the flames insue.

edit: I dont think any of the people I watch, or that watch me do these things, so dont think I am pointing fingers to you guys. I've just seen this kinda stuff almost constantly lately as I am browsing the site.
